What is coaching?

Ultimately coaching aims to improve your performance and ability to be truly effective. Coaching creates more purpose, meaning and urgency! Coaching is empowering you to take bold action and get the courage to do just that! Coaching is a combination of many disciplines and backgrounds from ontology, psychology, neuroscience, mindfulness to adult learning theory. My approach is a combination of all of the above, behavioral change and brain-based coaching.

Why would I want to hire a coach?

If you ever say to yourself “I can’t do this on my own” or ” I need a team to pull this one-off” then I can help you. If you feel “stuck ” or “your team is driving you crazy” I will get you unstuck quickly. If you feel alone, I will be there to talk things over with you. Think of me as you confidant and that really annoying person who won’t get off your back. My clients say they make quicker decisions, they get more confidence, they feel better, they get excited about the future, they get rid of toxic relationships that do not serve them, they make important decisions that would otherwise have taken years, the list goes on…

Who needs a coach?

I say everyone. Because I know everyone has goals, challenges and life and business is not easy. Here are a few examples I can offer to be specific: CEO’s who have multiple stakeholders to communicate with, emerging leaders transitioning to leadership roles who want to improve their soft skills and people management, experienced executives who may be a bit lonely at the top, maybe you are seeking confidential discussions about sensitive issues, directors who manage multiple direct reports and their teams, I know you have a serious lot of work on your plate, let me help you sort it out, and solo business owners who want to kick some major goals and leave a legacy.

Why does my coaching work?

I am an em-path. That means I make sure I sit over there with you before I go poking about. That to me is respectful. My coaching is non-judgmental and I will give you the space to be heard. You will be able to relax and “be real” in our sessions together.

What is in the zone?

Getting in the zone in my sessions is a goal! In “technical coach speak”  in the zone is a little brain wave that creates a change in thinking. It’s when life makes more sense. The zone doesn’t last for long. Otherwise we wouldn’t all want it so much!  However, we will write them down so you can take the next important steps.

How does coaching work?

By setting goals, strategies and having powerful conversations to create new habits. We will have one coaching session every fortnight, either face to face, Skype or via Zoom. Depending on where you are in Australia.

Where do our sessions take place?

We meet face-to-face at a convenient professional location. I require a confidential and relaxed environment with no distractions. We can discuss what is right for you. If you are located across Australia then we have our sessions on Skype or Zoom.

What is the difference between consulting / training and coaching?

Consults and trainers give you their advice, teach you the curriculum or the program. A coach uses a self-directed, solutions focused approach. I will be asking you some great questions to support and challenge you.

What do we mean by brain-based?

For years we have known that coaching works, I will teach you some of the latest findings from neuroscience. It makes sense to know why I suggest something from your brains point of view. I will also educate you on other successful coaching principles. What I offer I consider to be high quality and I have a variety of tools and choices.  I will also give enough information to fully understand what is the purpose of any of the processes we work through together.

Will you hold me accountable and will there be homework?

Yes I will. I will be annoying at times. That is my job! I will design an accountability structure that works for you and I have a whole workbook on accountability so you can fully grasp its impact and the opportunity it offers. I will also be holding you to your word and what you have promised in our coaching agreement. Please ask me for it. The entire coaching is set up to insure your success. I will provide you with the tools and there will be 1- 3 hours of homework per week.

Is there a structure?

Yes and no. Have you ever tried to build a house without a foundation? Why would we build your future without one in place. We will set firm goals and your goals will need a foundation that is build around your values, then we will make a plan to achieve them. I must say, I am not the cookie cutter type of coach. We need to be flexible in our approach. There is no one size fits all and I assure you we will not get lost on the way. We will get the results you want.

Will coaching fix my issues or current problems?

Changing behavior is the fastest way to changing mindset. This does take time, willingness and application. Creating new habits can fix problems in the short-term. Long term change takes dedication. I will be behind you 100% and will give you all the support you will need. Ultimately you are responsible for your goals and I will not let you off the hook.

Will I reach my goals?

If you align your will with your commitment –  you will. I promise to be a stand for your success and support you when times are challenging. Reducing your levels of resistance, getting over your fear and being courageous when you don’t feel like it will be game-changers for you. Talking about it in your coaching session is the first step to reducing your anxiety and keeping on moving forward one step at a time.
